The G-Line is Hauff-Technik's new fibre-optic product line. True to the slogan "A fresh approach to fibre-optic expansion", our aim with the G-Box is to provide an alternative to existing approaches and procedures for fibre-optic expansion, specifically for network construction work.
The three major objectives being pursued with the G-Line are greater speed, simplicity and affordability.
This reflects our opinion that the two primary aims in the coalition agreement, namely
1) providing Gigabit networks all over Germany by the end of 2025
2) connecting all schools, industrial zones and hospitals to the Gigabit network, and doing so during the current legislative period
can only be achieved by breaking new ground when it comes to fibre-optic expansion.
Being well connected everywhere is almost a basic requirement of modern society these days, and is also necessary for future services like autonomous driving.
However, the WiFi or 5G antenna sites needed for this require access to the fibre-optic network almost everywhere. This is made possible by the G-Box.
With the G-Box, deadlines are reduced depending on the expansion option, up to a complete plug-and-play cable system, which is installed in the G-Box prepared and connected without any further on-site appointment. The G-Box creates advantages for network operators, local authorities, house and building owners, planners, fibre optic installers, civil engineering companies and public utilities.
Fibre-optic expansion is proceeding at full speed at present. Network operators and telecommunications providers are facing the gargantuan challenge of expanding the fibre-optic network throughout Germany in a very short time and making high-speed Internet available to customers.
The greatest challenge by far is laying the fibre-optics on private plots as well as house connections in buildings, since this means making up to five appointments in total with the house owner. This results in significant organisational effort and increases the total costs per house connection.
With expansion option 1, a fibre-optic cable depot is stored in the G-Box already installed during the network construction work. This means that everything is prepared for the subsequent connection and no further excavation or blowing-in work is required on public land after the network construction work is complete. Shifting plug connections are no longer a problem either.
If a connection recipient opts for a broadband connection later, a micropipe just has to be laid on the plot up to the building and the fibre-optic cable run from the G-Box through the micropipe into the building and spliced to the subscriber terminal in the building.
In expansion option 2, cables are blown into each G-Box during the network construction work. Not the entire cable depot, however, just 4 m of excess fibre-optic cable length. This lies protected in a connection set until a broadband connection is requested.
Once this time comes, a micropipe just has to be laid on the plot up to the building. Unlike expansion option 1, however, a fibre-optic cable with a termination point already permanently connected is run from the building outwards into the G-Box. The big advantage here is that the splice connection takes place in the G-Box, which means that access to the connection recipient's building and the time-consuming making of appointments this involves is not required.
With expansion option 3, four excess fibre-optic cable lengths are blown into each G-Box as in expansion option 2. Then the G-Box sealing case with integrated termination point is installed. The splicing work can take place directly when connecting the sealing case. This means that a splicer is no longer required after the network construction work is completed. A robust empty duct connection for future connection of the G-Box to the building is already prepared.
If a broadband connection is requested in the future, the empty conduit is extended into the building and the cable system is fed through. This just needs to be plugged into the G-Box and the building, avoiding another call-out of expensive specialist personnel.
The G-BOX is the solution for intelligent network expansion. It creates advantages for network operators, house and building owners, municipalities and planners. You can see how this is possible in our short explanatory video.
